The three founders of Akon Lighting Africa - Akon, Thione Niang Samba Bathily - are invited this week in New York to present their project at the 2nd international forum Sustainable Energy For All - SE4A Forum.
The “Sustainable Energy For All” initiative was launched in 2011 by the United-Nations in partnership with the World Bank. Both institutions want to bring together governments, the private sector and the civil society to identify the fastest and most efficient solutions to offer to everyone by 2030 effective access to clean and sustainable energy, while doubling the rate of energy efficiency as well as the share of renewables in the global energy mix.
With regards to these objectives, Akon Lighting Africa is the perfect case study and will thus be officially presented as promising initiative for the entire continent. For Samba, Thione and Akon, it will be an opportunity to highlight to an high level international audience composed of public and private decision-makers, representatives from the Un and the European Commission the specificity of their project: a sustainable energy solution, that is accessible through a unique prepaid model and has been designed to ensureinclusive growth and promote youth employment.
On Monday 18 May at 9.30 am - New York time (3:30 p.m. Paris time), participate in an online chat with Akon, moderated by the United Nations: # SE4AllForum
